The following is information regarding CDMASC executive board positions for prospective candidates.

President: As CDMASC President, you act as the face of CDMASC. You are the region’s leader, and the region must be your #1 priority. As President, you will serve on two boards: the regional board and the state board. On the state board, you will act as a liaison between the state and our region where you will update the board on all things CDMASC related. You will also act as a delegate on the state board in the sense that you serve the state president with whatever they may need. On the regional board, you act as the go-to person for anything and everything. You make up the agenda for each meeting and work closely with the executive director. A CDMASC President must be a dynamic leader who is passionate about their region and ready for a challenge.

Vice President: As CDMASC Vice President, you are “second in command” to the President. It is your responsibility to be there for whatever the president needs. This could be something small such as notifying the board of a meeting time change, or as big as running an event such as Winter Day of Service or another bonding event. A Vice President must be dynamic, hardworking, and always ready for what the president may throw at them.

Secretary: As CDMASC Secretary, it is your job to take neat and detailed minutes at each CDMASC Executive Board meeting. These minutes are a description of what went on and what was discussed. They must be sent out to each board member as well as the executive director in a timely fashion for review. A secretary must be organized, responsible, and ready for anything.

Public Relations Officer: As CDMASC Public Relations Officer, you are required to keep the region informed and aware through the use of several media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and Gmail. You are responsible for publicizing CDMASC’s conferences, bonding events, apparel, and more. A public relations officer must be creative, enthusiastic, and ready with a camera to capture the smiles and cheers.

*All CDMASC Executive Board members are expected to maintain a positive, professional, and enthusiastic behavior at all meetings and events. How the region perceives our events and activities stems from how the board presents the ideas and how each board member promotes and discusses CDMASC.

Time and Travel Commitment:

The current CDMASC Executive Board meets once a month in Upton, MA, typically on a Saturday, from
9-11 AM. While the location of the meetings will not be changing, the time and day are subject to change depending on the schedules and needs of each year’s board. The time and dates are set to accommodate the majority of schedules although often times there is at least one board member with a conflicting, prior commitment. Please use Blackstone Valley Tech High School as a central location in determining the travel time from your location to our meeting  location.

Aside from meetings, it is expected that you will be at both regional conferences and bonding events. These events are lots of work to plan and execute, and all board members are needed for them to run smoothly and successfully!

The region’s executive director is understanding that as student leaders, many individuals are involved in several other activities that each have their own events and responsibilities. That being said, it is expected that your position on the CDMASC Executive Board will be treated as a priority, which sometimes may include requesting time off of work, missing a practice, or rearranging your schedule. Your presence as an executive board member is essential at meetings as your ideas and opinions are valued in the decisions the board makes as a whole.
